I, Bhanu Prakash (Ph.D., Texas A&M University), will be Lok Satta’s candidate for the
Vijayawada East assembly constituency for the upcoming elections.

A summary of my background:

Lok Satta:

Lok Satta is the one party which does not look upon politics as a business opportunity or personal fiefdom. I strongly believe that we are all in the same boat and that it is only to our ruin if we go forward pitting one region or caste or religion against the other. Present day politics is analogous to lifestyle diseases such as diabetes. It is all pervasive and has its effects on every aspect of our lives. Ignoring it, or not taking corrective action, will only lead us from one great disaster to the other. During my time abroad, I have seen how governments aid the people in their tasks, in stark contrast to our situation in India, where every interaction with the government is a hassle.

Misconcenptions about Lok Satta:

A misconception floating around is that a vote for Lok Satta is in vain. It is only because some of you voted for Lok Satta the last time that I am here, and willing to work for better governance. Your vote for Lok Satta will encourage people like me and other qualified people with integrity to come forward into politics.

Election Promises:

If elected, I do not promise the moon. But, I will be personally accessible at all times. Change will be slow and gradual, with immediate focus on the areas that are lacking proper water, drainage and waste disposal facilities. Arterial roads will be repaired and looked after. We will try to implement better traffic controls. We will work towards making the local governance more efficient and receptive to the needs of the public. Crucially though, many of the changes needed in society need us to change and make little sacrifices.
